Prepared, engaged students…a college classroom humming with active learning…time for rich, structured problem-solving. What professor wouldn't jump at the chance to create a learning environment like this?Team-based learning (TBL) has been FLIPPING classrooms for over 35 years. It works equally well in small and large classes; in fact, some people think it actually works better in larger classes. Learn how to get your students to come to class prepared and then how to use that preparation to "flip" your classroom so that class time can be better spent helping students learn how to apply course concepts to solve significant problems.

Inclusion, Engagement, Empowerment – Information systems can help to make or break these results. How can our research, across a range of IS specializations, help promote social inclusion across gender, ethnicity, socio-economic status, and other divides? This PDS will focus on engaging AIS members from a variety of specializations to consider how social inclusion might factor into their research. As examples, online funds transfer models, such as M-Pesa in Africa, have the impact of including more people in a broader economy, and info systems can be used to help or hinder people’s access to all sorts of things, including health care. Come join a lively discussion of active research projects across at least 10 SIGs, areas where social inclusion research may have an impact, and connect with potential research collaborations to support your studies in this area.
This professional development symposium engages attendees in a discussion of the various challenges and opportunities within the domain of IT project management. Presenters with experience as researchers, journal editors, practitioners, and educators within the domain of IT project management will share their insights related to lasting and emerging opportunities within the field. The audience will participate in this symposium through breakout sessions and a larger group discussion to stimulate new ideas, encourage collaborations, and have an interactive discourse on issues related to IT project management.

Replication Research in IS

In 2014, AIS launched a new journal dedicated to replication research: AIS Transactions on Replication Research, with a mission to publish replication research. The PDS will have three parts. First, we will define replication and describe how to conduct and write-up replication research articles. This includes three different types of replications: exact replications, methodological replications and theoretical replications. Second, we will present two examples of recent replication research and show how they advance science. Third, we will have an open discussion of replication research, with a chance to ask questions and debate issues.
